It is frustrating to hear people complaining about video games being a waste of time, energy and money.
They do not understand.
To me, a video game is similar to a book. They come with a story; beginning, middle and end. Characters, both major and minor who develop through the course of their own story to overcome whatever challengers come their way. More often than not we are given insight into a characters past, allowing us to better understand why they are doing what they are doing. For me personally, I find I connect with the characters, hoping that they will reach their goal and succeed.
These things are the same with both books and video games. They offer the same things for the reader/player.
The only part that differs between them is the visuals. In books, the setting and characters are described for you, allowing you to use your imagination to make up the details that are left out. Video games (usually) have a preset character(s) however some games allow you to create your own.
Basically, I want people to stop believing video games are a waste of time. I read books and I play video games, I see nothing wrong with either as long as they are stimulating and enjoyable for me.
